What Godspeed Is

Godspeed is a streetwear label built around skeletons and gothic Americana. We print that world on everyday pieces: hoodies, tees, long sleeves, sweatsuits, sweatpants, shorts, jackets, jeans, and hats. You will not find a plain blank shirt with a tiny logo here. Every design is meant to be looked at twice.

The pictures change from piece to piece, but they come from the same place. Astronauts with cracked helmets, skeleton racers, guard dogs, casino tables, burning skylines, and vintage supercars all share one dark, worn-in look, so a hoodie from one drop still goes with a tee from another.

Why We Chose the Name Godspeed

“Godspeed” is an old word. For hundreds of years people have used it to wish someone a safe trip or good luck before they set off. We liked that idea for clothes: what you wear should go with you wherever you are headed, on a normal Tuesday or a big night out. The word also turns up in music, film, and comics, and we wrote the full history in What Does Godspeed Really Mean.

The New York Part

New York runs through many of our designs. The Statue of Liberty shows up in lightning storms, wrapped in a snake, and as a close-up face, and city skylines sit along the hems and across the backs of hoodies. Back prints often carry a short line such as “E Pluribus Unum”, which is Latin for “out of many, one”, or “Out of Many, One” in plain English.

The Look We Keep Coming Back To

A few things repeat across the catalog, and they are what make a piece feel like Godspeed.

  • A gothic blackletter wordmark, often arched across the chest
  • A gothic “G” monogram on the back, in a different color or texture on each design
  • Detailed pictures that read like old band posters, with sleeves that carry flames, lightning, iron crosses, or lettering
  • Dark bases such as black, washed black, and charcoal, with cream and a few brighter colors as alternatives

Halloween gets its own spotlight in Godspeed Halloween Streetwear, but the skulls and skeletons are not a seasonal idea for us. They are the main subject all year.

How the Pieces Are Built

Every product page lists the fabric, the fit, and the sizes, so you can check them before you order. Hoodies and tees are made from heavyweight cotton or heavyweight fleece, and many have a washed finish that gives the black a faded, worn-in look from the first day.

The cut is oversized and relaxed, with dropped shoulders and a boxy body, and most pieces are listed as true to size from S to XL. Because the cut is already loose, your usual size gives the shape in the photos. If you are unsure, the Does Godspeed Run Big guide explains the fit by type of piece.

One Design, More Than One Base

Many designs come in more than one color, so you can choose the base that suits you. The lightning storm Liberty hoodie, for example, comes with blue, yellow, or red lightning on black, and the burning Hollywood sign print comes as a white tee and a black tee. How We Run the Store

We ship worldwide. Orders take at least 3 working days to process, and delivery usually takes 12 to 15 days after that, depending on your country. You get a tracking number by email when your order ships. Our Shipping Policy has the details.
